COLUMBIA, Mo. Lady Panther Softball headed to Columbia, Mo. on Friday to compete against Stephens College in an out of conference duel played on the campus of Oakland Jr. High School. The ladies blanked Stephens in game one with a 4-0 shutout, and followed with an 8-6 win in the finale.

Junior ace Lindsey Schuberth was on top of her game in the opener, recording the complete game shutout and allowing only two hits in seven innings. Schuberth sat down nine batters by way of strikeout and walked none in the win.

Shortstop Mattie Fairchild led the Lady Panthers at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance at the dish. The freshman notched an RBI and a run scored to help GC seal up the win 4-0.

Game two was much more closely contested with Greenville using a two-run eighth-inning rally to edge past Stephens 8-6.

The freshman Fairchild again shined for GC, batting 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to contribute offensively. She then took to the mound in the sixth to relieve starting pitcher Angela Sheets, and dealt three innings and surrendered only one earned to pick up the win.
