Softball takes 9-4 win over Stevenson

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The softball team was a 9-4 winner over Stevenson on Thursday and its game against Hamilton was cancelled due to weather conditions.

Greenville jumped ahead early with single runs in the top of the first and second innings. The Lady Panthers exploded for seven runs in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. Stevenson got on the board with their four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Anaya Tobiason went 2-for-4 for Greenville with two runs scored and four RBI as she smashed a grand slam home run in the fourth inning.

Bryn McKie and Tiffany Samsoe were both 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Hannah Burger was the starting pitcher, and she gave up 0 runs in 6.1 innings with six strikeouts. Burger was relieved by Ashlei Tuel briefly in the fifth inning before coming back into the game before the inning ended.

The Lady Panthers (3-4) face Anderson and Calvin on Friday in the concluding games of their spring trip.
