Softball ties Lawrence in final game

CLERMONT, Fla. - The softball team nearly completed their game against Lawrence but it was called as a 1-1 tie after six innings despite Lawrence scoring a run in the top of the seventh inning. Greenville's second game of the day was cancelled.

Greenville was batting with one out and no one on in the bottom of the seventh when the game was called due to rain.

The Vikings jumped on top in the top of the fifth with a run.

The Lady Panthers tied the game when Laney Thacker led off the bottom of the fifth with a homer.

Cayla Speaks went the distance in the circle for the Lady Panthers. She gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits. She struck out two and walked four.

Greenville (5-11-1) continues their season on Thursday when they host Principia.
