Softball wins SLIAC doubleheader

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team won a pair of SLIAC games against Principia on Monday. They won the first game 9-6 before taking an 8-0 win in game two.

Game 1 Recap

Greenville topped Principia 9-6 in the first game Monday.

Tiffany Samsoe had two extra base hits after she doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Cayla Speaks recorded the win. She allowed six runs over six innings. She struck out three, walked four, and surrendered six hits.

The Lady Panthers were sparked by Samsoe and Bryn McKie, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.

In the top of the first, Principia grabbed the early lead, 1-0.

The Panthers didn't relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the third inning. They scored on a two-run double by Samsoe and a two-run error.

The Panthers added five more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A error scored McKie to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Samsoe's double, bringing home Anaya Tobiason.

Four runs in the top of the seventh helped the Principia College Panthers close their deficit to 9-6.

Game 2 Recap

The Lady Panthers beat Principia 8-0 in five innings.

Greenville scored three runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Anaya Tobiason, a sacrifice fly by Tiffany Samsoe, and a wild pitch.

Karissa Woody racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Panthers. She homered in the second inning.

Brianna Anderson kept Principia off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing two hits while striking out six.

Greenville took the lead in the first when they scored one run.

The Panthers scored two runs in the second inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fifth. In the second, the Panthers scored on a two-run home run by Woody.
