Tracy Cromer Joins Greenville as Head Softball Coach

Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Tracy Cromer as its newest head softball coach. Cromer comes from Manchester College in Indiana where she has served as head softball coach for six years. Prior to Manchester, she was head softball coach for five years at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn. She also served as an assistant softball coach at Northwestern for one season. She assumes the position on August 1.

With 11 years of head coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level, Cromer is returning to serve in Christian higher education at her second institution dually affiliated with the NCAA and NCCAA. Northwestern is also an NCAA and NCCAA member.

At both previous head coaching stops, Cromers teams were conference champions. She has coached four all-region players, 16 academic All-Americans, and numerous all-conference and academic all-conference performers. More recently, the 2013 Manchester softball team won the conference championship, and the team played in the finals of the HCAC conference tournament three times.

At Northwestern, her squads posted three seasons with more than 20 wins, including a school record 28 wins in 2008. The team appeared in its first two NAIA regional tournaments, and she was the UMAC coach of the year three times.

Greenville will retain interim head coach John Barnes as an assistant coach after he helped direct the 2014 Lady Panther softball team to a 30-14 record, its highest win total in the last 20 years, and an appearance in the SLIAC tournament championship.

When we combine the strengths of Coach Cromer and Coach Barnes, we have an amazing leadership team, said athletic director Kent Krober. Coach Cromer brings a wealth of college experience as a head coach and a wonderful testimony of how God has worked in her life to make Jesus the Lord of her life.
