Volleyball season ends in SLIAC semis

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The volleyball season came to a disappointing conclusion with a five-set loss to Spalding in the semifinals of the conference tournament. Senior Joelle Scholten produced an 18 kill effort in the loss. Scholten was selected to the All-Tournament team.

Greenville won the first set 25-21, dropped the second and third sets 25-11 and 25-18, before rallying with a 25-17 win in the fourth set to force the match to a decisive fifth set. Spalding came out on top in the fifth set 15-9.

Greenville's defense was led by Jamie Schollenbruch who produced 26 digs. Marissa Erwin added two solo blocks and one block assist.

The Lady Panthers (22-9) ended their season as regular season conference champions for the fifth consecutive year.
