Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. GC volleyball downed conference foes MacMurray and Westminster at home on Saturday and retook the number one spot in the SLIAC.

Greenville opened with a 3-0 sweep over the Highlanders of MacMurray in the first half of the Saturday double-dip, and closed with a 3-1 victory against Westminster to finalize the days action. With the wins, the Panther squad moved to 20-7 (13-2 SLIAC).

The first match pitted the Black & Orange against an outmatched MacMurray squad. GC dominated offensively and swept the Highlanders in straight sets.

The capper proved to showcase much of the same result for the home Panthers, as GC routed Westminster in a decisive 25-7 fourth set to clinch the 3-1 decision.

Senior Sydney Cooper posted 29 digs and played strong defense throughout to help lead the Panthers. Offensively sophomore Corinne Coon added 23 kills and freshman Nicole Schaeffer followed with 16. Junior Ansley Devrieze displayed why she tops the SLIAC in aces, as she scored four in the contest. Senior Jannell Crow served up 55 assists and the team had a total of 66 kills in the match.

GC volleyball will return to the court on Tuesday, November 1 as they host Eureka College at 7:00 pm in the final home contest of the 2011 season.
