Volleyball wins 19th in Homecoming match

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The volleyball team treated their Homecoming crowd to a closely contested match as the Panthers won in four sets on Friday night. Freshman Allyson Mitchell produced 18 points for Greenville in the win on 16 kills and two service aces.

Greenville routed Fontbonne in the first set, winning 25-16, but Fontbonne battled to take the second set 26-24. Greenville swept the next two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-23 in sets three and four.

Prior to the match, Greenville recognized seniors Tori Ahlers, Joelle Scholten, Ellen Lueking, and Nicole Schaeffer for their accomplishments and dedication to the program.

Schaeffer produced 10 kills and a service ace for 11 points.

Kirsten Laune tallied a match-high 38 assists.

Jamie Schollenbruch had a tremendous match with 24 digs, and Laune added four block assists.

The Panthers (19-7, 13-1 SLIAC) travel to Blackburn to compete on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
