Volleyball Wins Close Battle to Westminster

FULTON, Mo.--The GC volleyball team traveled to Westminster and brought home the 3-2 victory.

The Panthers took the first set 25-18, lost the second and third sets 25-20 and 26-24, but came back to win the fourth and fifth sets 25-21 and 15-7.

Corinne Coon and Nicole Schaeffer led the Lady Panthers offensively. Coon tallied 21.5 points, 17 kills, 3 service aces, and 7 digs. Schaeffer recorded 20 points in the match and had 20 kills and 22 digs.

Joelle Scholten was also key for GC, ending the match with 15 kills and 15 points. Panther Ellen Lueking was credited with an impressive 60 assists and libero, Jamie Schollenbruch, had 45 digs.

The women remain undefeated in their Conference with a record of 20-4 (13-0 SLIAC). The Lady Panthers will return to the court on Saturday, October 26 when they will take on Fontbonne at 2:00pm.
