GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The early returns on Election Day are in and the Greenville Panthers are the SLIAC's league champions for the fifth consecutive season. Greenville defeated Eureka in three sets to give GC the title.

Greenville swept Eureka with scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-13.

Senior Nicole Shaeffer produced 12 kills, four service aces, one block assist, and seven digs in the victory. Jamie Schollenbruch tallied eight digs and three service aces.

Three Lady Panthers managed to come up with four service aces -- Kirsten Laune, Schaeffer, and Marissa Erwin.

Ellen Lueking provided 21 assists and two service aces.

With the outright league title for the second straight year, Greenville has matched Fontbonne's run from 2000-04 with five consecutive SLIAC league titles.

The Lady Panthers shared the top spot with Spalding in 2010 and with Webster in 2011 and 2012 before taking it exclusively in 2013 and 2014. Greenville appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2010 after winning the conference tournament. Greenville advanced to the conference tournament finals from 2009 to 2012.

The Lady Panthers (22-8, 16-2 SLIAC) host Spalding in the SLIAC tournament at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. Webster and Westminster will battle in the other semifinal at 4 p.m. with the winners squaring off at 7 p.m. for the automatic bid in the NCAA tournament.
