Women's basketball clinches SLIAC tournament bid

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team solidified the final position in the SLIAC tournament as they picked up a 73-51 win over Blackburn on Saturday. The Lady Panthers were led by Kelly Lenz with 12 points.

Greenville led 37-26 at halftime and outscored Blackburn by 11, 36-25, in the second half as well.

The Lady Panthers shot 38 percent from the floor on 27-of-71 shooting. They made 8-of-21 three pointers and 11-of-17 free throws.

Greenville's defense forced Blackburn into committing 19 turnovers, 12 of which resulted in G.C. steals. Claire Schmitt led Greenville with four steals.

Schmitt and Jamie Schollenbruch produced double digit scoring efforts in the win as they each had 10 points.

Laura Goodnight and Missy Deal added three assists.

The Lady Panthers (11-13, 8-9 SLIAC) host Webster in their final contest of the regular season on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
