Women's basketball jumps out early, cruises to 52 point win

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team set the tone with 31 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter and led 48-14 at halftime as they eased past Blackburn 80-28 on Saturday. The squad set a program record by limiting Blackburn to one point in the third period.

The Lady Panthers got contributions from their entire roster as every player but one scored in the contest. Starters Taylor Paulin and Missy Deal were the high point producers with 14 and 11, respectively.

Greenville forced 26 turnovers as the team picked up 14 steals. Maria Reinhard led Greenville with four steals.

Coley Baker provided five assists and held her customary position as team leader with two blocked shots.

Greenville made 24-of-42 shots, shooting at a 57.1 percent rate, including a 5-of-14 35.7 percent clip from three-point land. The team made 27-of-32 free throws.

The Lady Panthers (13-6, 9-3 SLIAC) host Spalding on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
