Women's basketball pulls into first place tie

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team defeated Iowa Wesleyan 72-63 on Saturday to improve to 7-1 in SLIAC action and a tie for the first place position.
The Lady Panthers led 21-18 after the first quarter and held a 41-34 advantage at halftime. The teams were evenly match in the third and fourth quarters as Greenville only extended their lead by two points with a 16-14 third and 15-15 fourth quarter.
In an interesting change, Greenville's guard play dominated offensively. Taylor Paulin led Greenville's offensive charge with 22 points and Claire Schmitt added 16 points.
Kelly Lenz was the top rebounder with eight, and Paulin and Laura Goodnight provided four assists.
The Lady Panthers (11-4, 7-1 SLIAC) complete the first loop of SLIAC action with a game on Wednesday at Eureka beginning at 6 p.m.
