Women's soccer battles Hendrix to 2-2 draw

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team played Hendrix to a 2-2 draw in double overtime Friday night.

Greenville opened the scoring in the contest when Whitney Warner gave the Lady Panthers their first goal in the 31st minute. Tymber Gabbert added the assist.

Women's soccer battles Hendrix to 2-2 drawGoals by Hendrix in the 58th and 72nd minutes gave the Warriors the lead, but Taylor Purkey put the ball in the net with 5:21 to play to tie the score and force the game to overtime.

The Lady Panthers outshot Hendrix 14-6.

Kency Lopez led Greenville with four shots, and Whitney Warner posted three shots.

Greenville's goalkeeper Hope Brakenhoff had two saves in the match.

Greenville (2-2-2) returns to action Saturday evening at Francis Field as they host Millikin at 5 p.m.
