Women's Soccer Captures Conference Opener 2-1

GREENVILLE, Ill.--The Lady Panthers opened their 2013 SLIAC play with a 2-1 win over Spalding. Mo Murphy and Kelsey Panzau had the goals for Greenville.

GC scored the first goal of the game in the 2rd minute when Kelsey Panzau sent the ball across the box to Mo Murphy, who shot it past the Spalding goalkeeper. 32 minutes into the first half, Panzau scored after receiving a pass from Heather Wein that brought the home team up 2-0 heading into halftime.

Spalding would get on the scoreboard in the second half off a finish from Katie Ballard to bring the game to its final score of 2-1.

GC goalkeeper, Heidi Koehl made 5 saves in the game. The Panthers had 9 shots on goal.

The win brings the Panthers to a record of 2-6 (1-0 SLIAC). On Tuesday, October 1, team will travel to Lindenwood-Belleville for their next match.
