Women’s tennis opens with victory

Results

OFALLON, Ill. The womens tennis team defeated St. Louis Pharmacy 5-4 in its opening match of the season. Greenville collected wins in No. 1 singles, No. 1 doubles, No. 4 singles, and two matches by default.

Lexi Baysinger picked up a pair of wins as she and Lezlie Friedline teamed up to defeat their opponents 8-2 in No. 1 doubles, and then Baysinger followed that performance with a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 1 singles.

Emily Rauch was a winner at No. 4 singles as she took her match 6-3, 6-1. Greenville won by default at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles because St. Louis Pharmacy did not field a full team.

The Lady Panthers (1-0) continue their season with an exhibition match against Principia on Saturday, Feb. 21.
