Women's Track and Field Places Third at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The women's track and field team used the efforts of seven top three finishes as they took second place at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan Open on Saturday. Maggie McMurtrey and the distance medley team were Greenville's event champions.

McMurtrey was first in the weight throw as she used a mark of 49-0.75 to top Meaghan Foster of William Penn by just over five inches.

The distance medley team of Mallory Wendling, Chelsea Gilles, Taylor Thomas, and Molly Works competed the 4000-meter jaunt in 14:17.78 to win their competition.

Greenville's lone second place performance was posted by Molly Works who was second in the one mile run with a time of 5:55.13.

Four Lady Panther entries earned third place. Ali Potthast threw the weight 42-5.25 in her third place performance, Sierah Ruffner jumped 5-1 in the high jump, and Taylor Brunner completed the 60-meter hurdles in 9.9 seconds.

Greenville returns to action Friday and Saturday as they send entries back to Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois College.
