Women's track and field wins Illinois College True Blue Twilight

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The women's track and field team competed strongly at the Illinois College True Blue Twilight as they were first place among 16 teams at the event.

Greenville was led by 200 and 400 meter dash champion Chelsea Gilles and collected four second place marks.

Gilles ran a sub-one minute 400 as she completed the lap in 58.50 seconds, defeating the runner up by nearly six seconds.  She clocked a time of 25.19 seconds in the 200.

Janisha Pealer collected second place in the long jump with a distance of 4.98 meters (16-4.25).

Sierah Ruffner cleared 1.55 meters (5-1) in the high jump to finish second.

The women's relays also produced second place marks.  The 4x100 clocked a 49.90 second race, and the 4x400 completed the event in 4:27.

The Lady Panthers return to action on Saturday, May 7, when they host the AMC/SLIAC championships in Greenville.
