Women's volleyball sweeps Fontbonne in three sets

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's volleyball team continued their journey to a sixth consecutive SLIAC league championship with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 win against Fontbonne on Tuesday in the first matchup this season between the teams.

Greenville hit at a 50 percent clip in game one as they had 18 kills and two errors in 36 attempts. This was followed by hitting at a 37.1 percent in the second game as Greenville accrued 16 kills and three errors in 37 attempts. The Lady Panthers closed the match with 12 kills and three errors in 28 attempts, hitting at a rate of 32.1 percent. Overall, Greenville put away 40 percent of its attacks.

The squad was led offensively by Allyson Mitchell who had 13 kills on the evening. She was followed closely by Savannah Sells with 11 kills. Kirsten Laune and Riley Hannula each produced two service aces, and Laune had 41 assists.

The defense was paced by Jamie Schollenbruch with 13 digs. Sells and Laune each had 10 digs.

The Lady Panthers (17-7, 13-1 SLIAC) host Lincoln Christian on Thursday at 7 p.m.
