Women's Basketball Drops Close Battle with Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. --The Greenville women's basketball team dropped a close contest to visiting Spalding by a score of 57-53.

Seniors Katelyn Wise and Ieisha Adams led Greenville in scoring with 11 points each. Coley Baker led the Panthers in rebounding with eight. Kayla Hyde and Emily Gundy were leaders for GC was well, eachrecording 6 rebounds and 9 and 8 points, respectively.

The first half ended with Greenville behind by just two points, 30-28. The Panthers controlled most of the second half, going up by as much as 8 points. Unfortunately, with a little under five minutes left in the game, Spalding came back and made a run, withthe final scoreresting at57-53, Spalding.

Spalding was led by Kelly Harrod who recorded 22 points, 11 rebounds,five steals,three assists, andone blocked shot in 35 minutes of play.

This loss brings GC's record to 10-12 (5-8 SLIAC). Spalding improves to 10-12 (8-6 SLIAC). The Lady Panthers will return to their home court on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6p.m. to take on Principia.
