ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The women’s cross country team had a good showing Saturday, Sept. 24, as they raced to 16th place finish and posted two women in the top ten at the Augustana College Brissman/Lundeen Invitational.

The women were again led by a strong performance from senior Michelle Sutton (Jackson, Mich./Jackson) who placed seventh out of 335 runners with a time of 22:19.  Sutton shattered the old school record of 22:45 by 26 seconds, and finished ahead of several NCAA Division I runners.

Adding to the solid team performance was freshman Aubree Schreder (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) who placed ninth overall, and posted an impressive time of 22:36. Schreder, like Sutton, broke the old school record of 22:45, and improved her season’s personal best time.

Next week the women’s cross country team will head to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Rose-Hulman Gibson Family Collegiate Invitational, on Saturday, Oct. 9.
