Women's Soccer Faces Heartbreak to Webster in SLIAC Championship

FENTON, Mo.-- The GC Women's Soccer team battled for a full 90 minutes, but could not bring home the SLIAC Tournament trophy, losing 1-0 to Webster.

The Gorlock's Ally Nikolaus scored off a rebound for Webster with just 28 minutes remaining in the game.

The Panthers made an impressive late run, takingthree shots on goal in in final 10 minutes of the match. Heidi Koehl was a huge presence for GC, making three saves and carrying the team defensively. Natalie Henneberry had three of the Panthers' five total shots. Although Greenville did not win the contest, Coach Jeff Wardlaw was proud of his team.

"I am so incredibly proud of you all," Wardlaw said after the heartbreaking loss. "I know you all gave everything you had and left it all on the field and I thank you for that."

The Lady Panthers ended their 2012 season with a record of 10-9-1.
