Women's Track and Field Take 9th at SLU

ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The Greenville College Women's Track and Field team finished 9th out of 17 teams that competed this weekend at St. Louis University.

Maggie McMurtrey, who has been an extremely successful thrower this season, competed well once again. She finished 2nd in the hammer throw with a throw of 46.03m and earned 8 points for GC. McMurtrey also earned points for Greenville in the discus, where she placed 7th with her throw of 33.70m.

Taylor Brunner was also a key contributor for the Panthers, coming in 3rd in the javelin throw. The junior earned an impressive 6 points for GC with her throw of 36.81m.

The Greenville relay teams were also impressive, with both the 4x100 and 4x400 teams finishing in the top ten. In teh 4x100, the team of Iyeesha Deberry, Brunner, Bailey Keim, and Rose Sanders came in 8th place with a time of 52.31. The 4x400 team, consisting of Brunner, Suzanne Ford, Keim, and Rachel Renshaw, crossed the finish line tenth at 4:25.87 and earned 3 points for GC.

Also adding point for Greenville were Abby Hill, with a 6th place finish in the hammer throw, and Amanda Muehlberg with a 7th place finish in the javelin throw.

The team earned a combined total of 27 points to finish the meet in the 9th spot out of the 17 teams that competed. The women will compete again Friday, April 19 at Rose-Hulman.
