The Checklist

Yes, each student is required to attend 36 chapels per semester. There are many ways in which you can fulfill your chapel requirements.

There are three standard chapels that meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30-10:20am plus two other chapel options per week: Vespers, which meets on Thursday nights at 9:30pm, and Prayer and Meditation chapel, which meets every Tuesday from 1:30-2:20pm.

Students may also get elective chapel credit by being involved in Bible studies and various other activities on campus.  We feel that chapel is a very important part of the Greenville experience and hope that you will grow and learn from these experiences.

In order to play sports students must maintain a 1.75 GPA first semester of freshman year and a 2.0 GPA second semester freshman year and following.

Students wishing to change their schedule should pick up an add/drop form from the Records Office located on the main floor of Marston Hall [building 33 on your campus map]. The student must then consult with and receive the signature of their academic advisor for all schedule changes. The form must then be returned to the Records Office to be entered.

Our Campus Activities Board works hard each year to organize campus events including movie nights, Coffeehouse open mics, barbeques on Scott Field, and a few surprises. Watch for signs around campus and check PantherNet for details.

Athletic events are scheduled for most weekends as well.

Unfortunately, we cannot. Greenville College does not have a computer repair center like some bigger universities.  If you experience problems with your personal computer we encourage you to contact the manufacturer or a local computer repair center.

Many of the majors and programs at Greenville College require students either to complete two semesters of college-level foreign language or to show that level of proficiency. 

Because many students change their major during their college experience, we require all new students to take the Foreign Language Placement Test, proctored in Snyder Hall rooms 103, 104  and 120 [first floor of building 18, on your campus map] just in case they happen to choose a major that requires a foreign language.

Yes! Members of the Baggage Brigade will be at each dorm to help students move in on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Baggage Brigade is a group of people designated to help carry students' luggage to the dorm room. Once your vehicle is unloaded, members of the Brigade will come and carry your belongings to your room.

You'll recognize them by their Greenville College T-shirt and nametag.

No. A laptop is not required but many students do find them extremely helpful in their course of work.

Washer and dryers are located in lower levels of Burritt, Holtwick, Joy, Janssenn, Kinney/Tenney, College Ave and West Oak. All of the machines are coin operated.

Auditions for Chorale, GC Choir, and Chamber Singers take place during New Student Orientation in Room 203 of the Whitlock Music Center [building number 14 on your campus map]. Prospective members may signup for an audition time and secure more information about auditions in the hallway next to Dr. Wilson’s Studio. Choral Ensembles are open to all students.

Chamber Orchestra is open to all string players as well as select wind players. No audition is necessary, and rehearsals are from 6-8pm on Monday evenings in the Band Room. Contact Dr. Woods at chris.woods@greenville.edu or at extension 6568 for more information.

Concert Band is open to all students who play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments. All students interested need to do is sign up for Music 135 or 335. No auditions needed. Band meets MWF 12:30-1:20.

Those interested in Keyboard Ensemble may contact Professor Stampfli during the next week about joining our Keyboard Orchestra. This group offers all pianists of intermediate skill the opportunity to perform in this 21st century touring ensemble. We will play a variety of styles from classical to pop to jazz. Any student may audition.

Those who are interested in joining Vocal/Jazz Band look for signs up on campus for more details about audition times and practice times. If you want more info regarding Vocal/Jazz Band you can call Grace Hoenig at ext. 6560.

The auditions for Lab Bands take place in the next two weeks. Previously organized groups will audition as a band. Those willing to participate in lab bands who do not yet have a group can contact Professor Jorge Casas at ext. 6567 for possible groups that need players. Students are encouraged to form their own groups. Audition dates will be posted in the music department and on the web; be on the look-out.
