New Student Guide - New Student Orientation - Saturday

  • 9:00 am to 11:30 am   COR Groups Meet for Freshmen & Transfer Registration MANDATORY

For all students who have not completed athletic check-in. 

  • 9:00 am to 9:30 am     Navigating College in Wilson Recital Hall

Learn the basics on your role in mapping your academic journey and how the Records Office can help you along the way. 

  • 9:30 am to 10:30 am  Tech Orientation including LMS and Portfolio guidance in Wilson Recital Hall 

      From MyGC to D2L and everything in between, technology is an integral part of learning at Greenville. Attend one of the three technology orientation sessions to learn what tools are available to help you get connected - stay connected - and succeed.  These sessions will include an introduction to the way courses are managed, how to find course materials, e-communication with classmates, faculty, and GC staff, ePortfolios, and more.  As assignment for COR will be given, so come ready to learn something new and apply your skills right away. You are encouraged to bring your laptop or other device to participate, if possible.  

      • 10:30 am to 2:15 pm Testing in Snyder Hall Rooms 103, 104 and 108

      This testing is mandatory for all freshmen and transfers. Students will walk to the testing center in Snyder Hall with their COR 101 group immediately following the completion of registration. ALL incoming students MUST attend this testing session in order to take the foreign language placement exam or (at this designated time) sign a waiver stating that: a) foreign language instruction was received in a language other than Spanish or French; or b) no foreign language instruction has ever been received.

      *If you are a student athlete and find that the schedule conflicts with Athletic Events please contact your COR instructor.

      • 11:00 am to 1:00 pm   Brunch (Armington Dining Commons) [Upper level of Building 17]

      Students must present ID card.  Cost to parents and guests is $7.75.

      This needs to be done well in advance of the 1st day of classes (Wed) in order to be in either the correct course with its required textbook or in a studio. (See full details listed for Friday on page 2. (Time Sensitive)

      • 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm   Marching Band Rehearsal

      • 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Leadership & Life Calling Mostly Electronic Scavenger Hunt (Library Steps) 

      Gather with your Faith and Learning Class to complete a mostly electronic scavenger hunt.  Prizes will be given at the Annual Alumni Soccer Game and Tailgate for all individuals and groups who complete the scavenger hunt. 

      • 6:45 pm   Annual Alumni Soccer Game & Tailgate  


      Come support GC Athletics! Bring your student ID to get a delicious tailgate dinner! Half time will also include an introduction of the fall sports.  Note:  COR 101 Instructors - please come to the game with your COR Group. Shuttles run from Ganton Circle starting at 6:00 pm. *Bring your Student ID Card

      •  9:15 pm  Vespers Kickoff (Whitlock Music Center Recital Hall) MANDATORY

      This student-led service marks the first time the new class will gather together for worship.  There will be lots of singing, sharing and a special time of Communion as we invite Christ to be present and guide us in all we do this year.  

      •  10:15 pm  Fellowship (Burritt Fire Pit)

      Find fellowship and friends at Burritt Fire Pit located on the north end of Burritt Hall. Enjoy student-led worship and music in this intimate and sacred setting.

      • 10:15 pm Prayer Tent (Burritt Fire Pit)

      This is te year for you to be courageous, faith filled, joyful and cement those commitments with Jesus.  A team of faith-filled prayers will be happy to pray with and for you during this time.  Or perhaps you need healing, deliverance, revival and provision from Jesus.  We will pray with you and expect great things from the Lord.
