About Lesley Sieger-Walls

What's your favorite thing about working at Greenville College?

At Greenville College, I've discovered that everyone learns from each other. That's the best thing about a community that aims to bring faith and education together. In the community, good friends let me pull up a seat at their tables where we dine, laugh, and develop close relationships. There is no formula for any of these interactions, but they all empower me to keep learning from everyone who studies, works and lives here.

What attracted you to Language, Literature and Culture, and how do you use it outside of the classroom?

In the English literature courses I teach, students have helped me to encounter novels such as Adam Bede and Robinson Crusoe with new eyes as we read about characters that experience personal suffering and question God. Outside my classroom, colleagues embrace my ideas but also challenge me to keep revising and rethinking my positions.
