Baseball Commitments

2015 Season

Joel Hutchison

Hometown: Morton, IL
High School: Peoria Christian
Position: IF/OF
Outlook: Joel looks to build on a strong senior season at Peoria Christian where he led the team with 36 stolen bases and a .477 OBP. Joel is a great athlete who will be a nice addition to the Panther baseball program.

Jesse Getz

Hometown: Tremont, IL
High School: Tremont High School
Position: MIF
Outlook: Jesse is a very talented shortstop who will look to contend for playing time early in his GC baseball career. In his senior season, Jesse hit .360 with a .504 OBP and 48 stolen bases. Jesse’s great year earned him 1st Team All-Conference honors. The Panthers are very excited to have Jesse join the GC baseball family.

Austin Marsh

Hometown: Wright City, MO
High School: Wright City High School
Position: UTIL
Outlook: Austin is a versatile player looking to make an immediate impact for the Panthers. His senior year he batted .506 with 31 RBI and 18 doubles. Austin also threw 32 innings on the mound, striking out 37 batters and finishing the year with a 2.60 ERA. His strong senior year earned him 1st Team All-Conference, and 1st Team All-District honors. Austin’s ability to play virtually anywhere on the field will make him an asset to the program.

Travis Ralls

Hometown: Florissant, MO
High School: Westminster Christian
Position: C
Outlook: Travis is a very talented catcher who the Panthers are excited to have join the team. This year, Travis hit .354 with 27 RBI, good for 2nd team All-Conference honors. Travis will look to earn playing time right away as a freshman.

Caleb Miles

Hometown: Goreville, IL
High School: Goreville High School
Position: C
Outlook: Caleb looks to build on a strong career at Goreville High School, where he was the starting backstop for multiple seasons. His senior year, Caleb hit .342 with 13 RBI, good for a spot on the All-Conference Team. Caleb will bring some nice experience behind the plate to handle next year’s pitching staff.

Nate Miller

Hometown: Tremont, IL
High School: Tremont High School
Position: C/OF
Outlook: Nate joins high school teammate Jesse Getz as a 2014 Panther baseball commit. Nate is a great athlete who can play behind the plate and in the outfield. In his senior season, Nate hit .367, drove in 26 runs and stole 33 bases. Nate earned 1st Team All-Conference honors at the catcher position. Nate will look to use his athleticism and versatility to contribute to the Panther baseball team.

Noah Showalter

Hometown: Marquette Heights, IL
High School: Peoria Christian
Position: 1B/OF
Outlook: Noah joins high school teammate Joel Hutchison as a 2014 Panther baseball commit. Noah is a hard worker who will look to make an impact early in his career. In his senior season, Noah batted .429 with 8 doubles, 20 RBI, and 19 stolen bases. Noah is a strong hitter who will add some pop to a Panthers team that finished 4th in the country in home runs in the 2013-2014 season.

Devin Mayfield

Hometown: Effingham, IL
Previous College: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
Position: RHP
Outlook: Devin is a transfer from Rose-Hulman who will be playing his first official college baseball season with GC. Devin had a very strong career at Effingham High School, capped off by a senior season where he went 7-2 on the mound with a 1.35 ERA. He also recorded 58 strikeouts in 67 innings. This earned Devin 1st Team All-Conference, as well as 1st Team All-Area honors. Devin will look to contribute immediately in his first year on the mound with the Panthers.

Ryan Strohm

Hometown: St Louis, MO
Previous College: Westminster College
Position: LHP
Outlook: Ryan transfers in from conference foe Westminster College where he had a very strong sophomore season. Ryan will immediately be a major contributor to the Panther pitching staff as a pitcher who has already experienced great success in the SLIAC conference, leading Westminster College in the 2014 season with a 1.62 ERA.

Greg Knight

Hometown: St Peters, MO
High School: Francis Howell
Position: RHP
Outlook: Greg will continue his baseball career with the Panthers after a strong career in the SLABA summer baseball league. Greg is a big right-hander with the potential to be a very strong player for the Panthers throughout the next four years.

Evan Maxey

Hometown: Salem, IL
High School: Salem Community High School
Position: RHP
Outlook: Evan joins the Panthers after a strong high school career as a pitcher/outfielder. Evan will look to continue his development on the mound as he joins a very strong Panther bullpen.

Corey Godden

Hometown: Mattoon, IL
High School: Mattoon High School
Position: RHP
Outlook: Corey will spend his freshman year rehabbing from an injury sustained in his senior year of high school. The Panthers feel that Corey can come back even stronger from his injury and be a great addition to the pitching staff down the road.

Jordan Yakel

Hometown: Hazelwood, MO
High School: Hazelwood West High School
Position: CIF/RHP
Outlook: Jordan’s high school playing career was plagued by injuries, but the Panthers feel that they have found a very strong player. Jordan has played baseball at a very high level, and he will look to be an immediate contributor on the mound and in the field.

Johnnie Clift

Hometown: Patoka, IL
High School: Patoka High School
Position: 3B/RHP
Outlook: Johnnie joins the Panther baseball program after a strong career at Patoka High School. His senior year, Johnnie was an All-State basketball player as well as the MVP of the Egyptian-Illini Conference in baseball. Johnnie is a solid infielder who will compete for playing time early in his GC baseball career.

Tristan Wesselman

Hometown: Ramsey, IL
High School: Ramsey High School
Position: RHP
Outlook: Tristan will look to continue a strong baseball career as a GC Panther. Tristan is a big, strong kid with a lot of potential. He will look to add depth to a strong Panther pitching staff.

Caleb Watts

Hometown: Carrollton, IL
High School: Carrollton HS
Position: LHP
Outlook: The Panthers are excited about bringing Caleb into the mix.  While at Carrollton his senior year Caleb turned in a solid campaign.  Over his 29.1 innings he posted a 2.63 ERA going 4-0 with a complete game shutout.  The Panthers look for Caleb to make a big impact in his career at GC.
