Greenville Men's Soccer Plays Principia to 1-1 Tie

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The GC Panthers could not pull out the win and, after two overtime periods, the score remained 1-1 against Principia.

Dan Ruder got a Greenville goal with 17 minutes left in the first half off a deflected shot by Elliot Thompson to give GC the 1-0 lead. Principia answered with just 1:19 left in the half when Richard Bonsi finished a cross by Abi Carper. This brought the score to 1-1 heading into halftime.

The second half was scoreless and this forced the game into overtime. Neither team could score in the first 10 minute period so the game went into double overtime. Although Greenville had many opportunities, the ball still did not go in the back of the net so the game ended with a final score of 1-1.

This game brings the Panthers' record to 7-5-2 (2-0-2 SLIAC). The men's team plays again on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Eureka to take on the Red Devils.
