ELSAH, Ill. – The men’s tennis team opened their 2011 season on Friday and Saturday as they competed in the Principia College two-day tournament. Though the team finished well as a whole, it was the performances by Ian Wolf and Joe Newlin that headlined the Panthers' efforts.
Wolf, a junior from Greenville, Ill., and Newlin, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., both collected victories in all six of their individual matches. The two also proved to be a devastating combination in doubles play as they swept the competition 8-4, 8-3, 8-6.
Aside from the Panthers, the two-day tournament participants included Knox College, NCAA Division II Quincy University, and host Principia College.
The men's tennis team again hit the court Wednesday, Feb. 23, as they take on Missouri Baptist on the campus of Principia at 7 p.m.
