Ayers Field Station - White Environmental Center

In May of 2008, the White Environmental Education Center was dedicated.  This environmentally friendly log building is a unique and very attractive facility that provides Greenville College with the ability to serve not only our students, but the broader educational community.  The center was completed with the help of over 50 volunteers and 535 person days of donated labor. These volunteers included students, alumni, staff, current and retired faculty, persons from the Free Methodist church and community members.  The building houses the Biology Department's extensive bird/mammal study skin and plant collections.  These collections are accessible to our students in a space dedicated to their use.   Laboratory space on the upper and lower levels enables field oriented classes to work with materials located at the Ayers Field Station without having to bring the materials back to campus.

The new Educational Center provides a facility in which area school children can study the wonders of Creation and learn about ways that we can be better stewards of the environment.  The east end of the upper level function as a Visitor's Center and classroom space with educational "interest centers" focused on environmental awareness and stewardship.  This facility is being made available to area school children, and volunteers are used to open the Education Center and the trails of the Field Station to the general public.
