All Four Fall Coaches Earn Conference Coach of the Year Honors

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville College athletic program had an extremely successful fall season with four teams winning conference championships, one team placing second in their conference, and one team ranking third in itsconference. As a benefit of this success, every fall sports coachgaineda conference coach of the year trophy.

Brian Patton and his coaching staff were the first to receive thishonor when he picked up theSt. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country coach of the year award. Heled his men's cross country team to their 12thconference championship since 1996. Patton was also head coach of the women's cross country squad who placed third at their conference meet.

Brian McMahon, head men's soccer coach, was named SLIAC men's soccer coach of year after winning the regular season conference championship and tournament championship. The regular season title was their second consecutive, and their tournament championship was the second in three years. The Panthers ended their season with a 15-6-2 record after participating in the NCAA national tournament. McMahon also served as head women's soccer coach, and the women's team placed second in the conference during the regular season and tournament. He was recently selected as NCCAA north central region men's soccer coach of the year.

Tom Ackerman, head volleyball coach, directed the Lady Panther volleyball team to the regular season conference co-championship and tournament championship. He was announced as coach of the year after Greenville's tournament championship. The conference championships were Greenville's first, and the team ended their season with their first appearance in the NCAA national tournament with a record of 26-6.

Ordell Walker was the final coach to receive coach of the year honors as he directed the football team to thechampionship of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. The team won their second straight conference championship with a perfect 6-0 mark and was 7-3 in the regular season.

The four men coach all of Greenville's six fall sports.
