Ambers and Butler Selected as D3football.com All-Region Recipients; Duo Joins Burroughs in All-American Bowl

MINNEAPOLIS -- Standout running back Anthony Ambers and offensive lineman David Butler were among those selected to the D3football.com all-north region team and were accompanied by teammate Tim Burroughs in the All-American Bowl held in Minneapolis.

Ambers, a senior andUMACoffensive player of the year,rushed the ball 213 times for 1,573 yards this season and scored 18 touchdowns.

Butler, also a senior and the UMAC offensive lineman of the year, led an offensive line that blocked for a unit that rushed 499 times for 3,070 yards. The offense piled up 648 passing yards.

Burroughs, a senior, was a UMAC first team offensive lineman.

The All-American Bowl was a collection of top college players throughout the country. Serving as coach for one of the squads wasGreenville alumni football player Jim Catanzaro who is currently the head coach at Lake Forest College.

The bowl gameserved as the capstone to the career of these seniors which resulted in two consecutive conference championships and an appearance in the NCCAA Victory Bowl.
