Published: April 13, 2021

ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The GC Baseball team could not top Washington University and lost twice in the double-header, falling 13-2 in the first game and 9-0 in the second game.

In the first game, Cole Lawson and Hunter Bryan were credited with RBI. Tyler Pilcher recorded the loss on the mound after facing 20 batters and allowing Wash U 7 hits and 7 runs. Jesse Sneed, Brandon Cranford, and CJ Opp each saw time on the mound as well. Wash U got out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and increased their lead in the bottom of the fourth when they scored 6 runs. GC scored one run in the third inning and another in the seventh, but those two runs would not be enough to overtake the Bears, who took the game 13-2.

The second game also ended in a loss for GC. Wash U scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and did not relinquish their lead. The Bears added two more runs in the third and four in the fourth inning to bring the game to its final score of 9-0. Tyler Mitchell was credited with the loss. He pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 6 hits and 7 runs. Nick Bifano and Scott Voyles also shared the mound, facing 6 and 10 batters, respectively.

These losses move the Panthers' record to 8-18 (5-10 SLIAC). The team plays again on Monday, April 22 at home where they will face Webster.
