GREENVILLE, Ill. GC baseball (5-15, 4-2 SLIAC) took the first of the seasons three-game set against SLIAC rival Blackburn College on Friday afternoon in a convincing 12-1 fashion. Freshman pitcher Cody Hinterscher (1-2) shined in the contest, dealing six innings and surrendering only one earned run on four hits while striking out seven.

Senior Daniel Covert led the Panthers at plate, batting 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Greenville used an explosive seven-run third inning to cruise to the 12-1 decision. The Panthers would finish the game in seven innings with Hinterscher picking up the win.

Greenville College Baseball will return to action tomorrow as they travel to Blackburn and battle the Beavers in a double-header to round out the season's series.
