Baseball drops 6-1 game to Webster

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- Cole Lawson did all he could to give Greenville College a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Webster, as Greenville College lost 6-1 at Robert E. Smith Field on Monday.

Lawson got on base two times in the game for Greenville College . He singled in the fifth inning.

Dylan Dean Smith got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed one run over seven innings. Smith struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits.

The game was never in doubt after the third, as Webster scored two runs on two hit into a fielder's choices.

Webster brought home one run in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the eighth. In the fourth, Webster scored on an error, scoring Cody Stevenson.

Webster tacked on another two runs in the fifth. A single by Mitchell Bonds ignited the offense,, bringing home Mike Rainbolt. That was followed up by Ian Foege's single, plating Alex Kazmierski.

The seventh inning saw Greenville College score its only run on the day on an RBI double by Tyler Pilcher.
