Baseball ends regular season with victory

LISLE, Ill. -- The baseball team lifted their record to a season-high two games over .500 with a Friday night 5-4 win over Benedictine.

The top of the order was on base frequently for Greenville. Mike Hardin, Nate Miller, and Trevor Montgomery recorded two hits, and Travis Ralls racked up three hits.

Hardin's solo home run in the top of the ninth gave Greenville the win.

Greenville fell behind 2-0 in the second inning before posting one run in the third inning on Montgomery's RBI single.

Benedictine added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Greenville'sthree run fifth inning tied the game.

In Greenville's fifth inning, the Panthers recorded four straight hits. Miller reached base on a single and scored on Montgomery's RBI double. Ralls plated Montgomery with an RBI single, and Shane Olmsted doubled to left field to chase home Ralls.

GC employed seven pitchers in the contest. Austin Marsh and Jonah Moore each threw two innings and gave up two runs. Phillip Reedy, Dillon Reel, C.J. Opp, Nicholas Strubhart, and Jason Collingwood all had scoreless innings pitched.

Strubhart got the win, and Collingwood picked up the save.

The Panthers (21-19) will face Webster in the SLIAC tournament on Thursday night.
