Published: April 13, 2021

ELSAH, Ill. Greenville Baseball picked up a key 4-2 decision over Westminster College on Friday behind a complete game performance from Senior ace David Massengill. Massengill, now 5-1 on the season, gave up only two runs on five hits while striking out nine.

Aside from his efforts on the mound Massengill also shined at the plate, batting 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Sophomore third baseman Kenny Trager also aided GC offensively going 2-for-5 at the dish with a run scored and an RBI.

The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning and added another in the sixth to hold a 3-0-margin heading into the seventh. Westminster mustered two runs in the final three innings but was unable to trim the lead as Greenville clinched the 4-2 SLIAC matchup.

Due to field conditions the Panthers battled the Bluejays on the campus of Principia College.

GC Baseball (13-18, 12-5 SLIAC) will next take to Robert E. Smith Field tomorrow at 1:00 pm as they host the Panthers of Principia.
