Baseball splits at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The baseball team earned a 4-2 win in the first game before falling 5-3 in the second game on Saturday.

Game 1 Recap

The Panthers jumped on Spalding early on their way to a 4-2 win.

Shane Olmsted homered in the first inning to give Greenville a 3-0 lead.

Spalding scored two runs in the third.

Adam Lamb got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over six innings. Lamb struck out three, walked three, and gave up four hits.

Game 2 Recap

A tight game was decided in the eighth inning as the Panthers fell to Spalding 5-3 on Saturday.

The Panthers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Danny Strohm, who went 3-for-3 against Spalding's pitching. He singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.

Dillon Reel took the loss on the mound. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

The Panthers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Nate Miller got things going for the Panthers with a single. A passed ball then moved Miller from first to second. Travis Ralls singled, scoring Miller.

Spalding quickly matched the Panthers' strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the first.

The Panthers brought home one run in the second inning on an RBI single by Strohm. Greenville scored again in the seventh to tie the game.

The Panthers (12-18, 7-6 SLIAC) host Principia on Tuesday night in a doubleheader.
