GC Business Management Students Place First in Investment ContestThe Greenville CollegeBusiness Management Departmentplaced first in this years St. Louis Collegiate Investment Management Contest and will collect a $10,000 award for its winning entry.

Each year,Principia Collegeinvites colleges and universities in the St. Louis area to submit hypothetical portfolios comprised of 20 value stocks. The portfolio that shows the greatest growth in two and a half years wins.

Greenville Colleges $1,000,000 investment grew by 74.6%. The other schools had an average increase of 39.3%. Greenville College Professor of Business Management, and Chair of the Business Management Department Dr.Larry Sayler(pictured) reported that the S&P 500 went up 46.3% during this period.

Sayler said the Business Management Department will use the prize money to fund faculty and student enrichment opportunities.

The contest's purpose is to give students experience with portfolio management and value investing. Five to nine institutions generally participate. Greenville College has won the contest twice, once in 2007 and once in 2014.
