Football falls to Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team was outscored 17-7 in the final period, and they were defeated 30-20 by Westminster on Saturday.

Greenville had three touchdowns on the afternoon. Samuel Northey, Hamid Camara, and Chase Stamatis each scored.

Northey's four yard pass from Jacob Tibbetts allowed Greenville to erase a 6-0 deficit and lead 7-6 after one quarter.

Camara came through with an eight yard run with under two minutes to play in the first half to give the Panthers a 13-6 lead at halftime.

Westminster scored once in the third quarter tie the game at 13-13 heading into the fourth quarter.

In a high scoring final stanza, Westminster picked up a touchdown and field goal to lead by 10.

Stamatis caught a halfback option pass from Northey and went 37 yards to cut the deficit back to three, but Westminster broke lose for a 57 yard touchdown run on the first play of their next possession to push the lead back to 10.

Camara picked up 214 rushing yards on 31 carries including the touchdown.

Tibbetts completed 10-of-16 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown pass.

Corbin Quinonez caught five passes for 44 yards.

The Panther defense was paced by Robert Deering with eight tackles, including one quarterback sack.

Joey Silva picked up a quarterback sack, and Nicholas Morrow posted an interception.

The Panthers (1-3, 1-2 UMAC) travel to Eureka next Saturday.
