Football Improves to 5-2 with Win

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team upped their 2012 season mark to 5-2 with a 42-35 Homecoming win over Eureka on Saturday.

The Panthers rushed for 386 yards and six touchdowns in the win. Immanuel Gamble was Greenville's leading rusher with 138 yards and one touchdown. Justin Honeycutt collected 133 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Brendan Chambers ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns.

Greenville scored the first 5 touchdowns of the game, with Chambers running forthreeof them and Honeycutt addingtwo. It wasn't until late into the second quarter that Eureka got on the scoreboard, when Red Devil Zach McCoy ran for a 4 yard touchdown. This brought the halftime score to 35-7GC.

McCoy started the second half with another touchdown for Eureka. GC quickly answeredwith a 54 yard run byGamble to get Greenville another touchdown. That would prove to be the Panthers' last points of the game, as Eureka went onto getthree touchdowns before the final whistle blew. Fortunately for Greenville, the Red Devils' last push was not enough to overtake the home team and GC came out with a 42-35 win on homecoming.

The Panthers return to action next Saturday with a game at Westminster.
