GC Announces 2015 Christmas Jazz and Concert Band Christmas Concerts
Greenville College is proud to showcase two different bands in their holiday concerts this season. At 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, the GC Jazz Band will share a jazzy, jingly mix of Christmas tunes in Whitlock Music Center. Featuring a full big band along with the rich vocals of Kent Luster and Kandis Gumbs, this can’t-miss concert will leave you bright and cheerful!
The sixth annual Christmas by the Fireside concert is Sunday evening, December 13 at 7:00 p.m., also in Whitlock Music Center. The Greenville College Concert Band shares an old fashioned musical event to set a nostalgic tone for your Advent and Christmas season. The second of four major performances in the Greenville College Band Concert Series, Christmas by the Fireside is full of heartwarming melodies that resonate “Christmas” with concertgoers. Emeritus faculty member Dr. Dan Jensen will once again narrate the concert from his chair by the fire as the band shares the season’s cherished traditional carols and fun Christmas songs. Bring your whole family out for this memorable event, enjoying special post-concert refreshments by Robert and Vicki Ellsworth of Huddle House, with a special treat just for the kids. Savor the sparkling sounds of Christmas, sing along with carols and visit for an hour or so by the fireside.
Admission to both concerts is free and open to the public. The bands are under the direction of Will Fairbanks, who since his arrival at GC in 2010 has expanded the instrumental music program to include the Greenville College Panther Corps marching band and the basketball pep band in addition to the concert and jazz bands.
