GC Men's Soccer Falls to Benedictine-Springfield

Published: April 13, 2021

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.-- The Panthers fell behind 2-0 at half and could not get the goals they needed to finish the game, losing 2-1 in Springfield.

Greenville dominated play for most of the game, outshooting their opponents by a large margin, but the team just could not find the back of the net. Benedictine-Springfield had two goals in the first half and GC could not get in the board, leaving the halftime score 2-0 Benedictine.

The second half was controlled by GC as well. This time, the Panthers did not allow the Bulldogs to penetrate their defense. Robert Wright had the lone goal for Greenville with only 11 seconds left in the game. Unfortunately, that was not enough and the final whistle blew with GC losing 2-1.

The Panthers' record is now 5-5-1 (0-0-1 SLIAC) and they hope to get a Conferencewin this weekend. The team plays again Saturday, October 6 as they take on Blackburn at home.
