GC Tennis Ladies Drop a Close Match to Concordia 4-5
Published: April 13, 2021
The Lady Panthers lost a close match to the Concordia Bulldogs 4-5 on Friday. Greenville could not pull out the win despite a great team effort and impressive doubles play.
Singles play was not as successful as the team hoped, with GC only winning 2 of the 6 matches. Kristin Minshall beat her Bulldog opponent in the No. 2 spot with a score of 6-3, 3-6 (10-2). Kristen Lynch also played an impressive match, with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Chelsie Evans, Kim Minshall, and Kat Kennedy also played hard, with all three of the ladies taking their matches to tie-breakers.
In doubles play, the teams of Lynch and Evans and Jamie Harling and Kennedy came out on top. No. 2 duo Lynch and Evans won a close match, 8-9 (3-7). Harling and Kennedy fought hard as well and gained a GC point with an 8-4 win. Unfortunately, the two doubles wins were not enough to bring home the victory so the Panthers left St. Louis with a 4-5 loss.
This match brings Greenville to a 3-7 overall record. The ladies will hit the court again tomorrow in hopes of bringing home a SLIAC victory against Blackburn.
