GC Women's Soccer Dominates Iowa Wesleyan

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Lady Panther soccer team got their first win of the season, defeating Iowa Wesleyan 9-1.

GC scored the first goal of the game in the 24th minute when Kency Lopezbeat the keeper offa pass from Haley Thatcher. Thatcher then scored the game's second goal 7 minutes later, when Kieley Leach lead her for the assist. Heather Wein boostedGreenville's lead in the34th minute when she shot a rocket from deep to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead. Iowa Wesleyan's Savanna Blair scored her team's only goal in the 37th minute, making the halftime score 3-1 GC.

The second half proved to be even more successful for Greenville. The Lady Panthers added 6 more goals, with 5 women recording assists. Katelyn Reckert started the half with agoal in the 50th minute of the game.Lexie Baysinger finished a beautiful cross from Amanda Herr in the 77th minute and Herr put one in the back of the net just 11 minutes later with an assistfrom Leach. Natalie Henneberry also scored an impressive 3 goals in the half, giving herGC's first hat trick of the season. Her finishes were assisted by Reckert, Mallory Prygon, and Baysinger. GC keeper, Heidi Koehl recorded 5 saves in the match. The final score of the game was 9-1 with GC coming out on top.

This win brings the ladies' record to 1-2-1. They play again Thursday evening at 6:00p.m. vs. Millikin at home in hopes of continuing their winning ways.
