Greenville College Choir to Celebrate 90th Anniversary

Published: April 13, 2021

The Greenville College Choir will be celebrating its 90th Anniversary Concert Season during 2016-17. A Reunion for choir alumni during Homecoming Weekend (October 21-23, 2016) on the Greenville College campus is being planned. Alumni will have opportunity to enjoy fellowship and singing together throughout the weekend, with special performances taking place at the Greenville College Alumni Dinner on Saturday and at the Greenville Free Methodist Church Sunday morning worship services.

The Choir Reunion weekend will begin with the Greenville College Choirs first public performance of the season on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Whitlock Music Center. The program, titled God So Loved the World, will include music from England, France, Germany, Russia and America. A new work by Philadelphia composer Kile Smith, which was commissioned in celebration of the Choirs 90th Anniversary, will also be premiered.

Founded in 1927, the Greenville College Choir has attained a widespread reputation for performing sacred choral music of the highest quality. The Choir tours annually to various destinations throughout the United States and Europe, including a 2015 tour to Ireland. A March 2017 tour is being planned to the Eastern United States with stops in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C.
