Greenville Volleyball Ranked Third in SLIAC Preseason Poll

Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. - After qualifying for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) tournament in three consecutive seasons, the Greenville College volleyball program is predicted to do so again as it was chosen third of nine teams in the preseason SLIAC coaches' poll.

The Panthers ranked behind Webster and conference newcomer Spalding as favorites. Greenville, who finished 16-13 (10-6 SLIAC), returns three all-conference recipients and a host of several other returners who will be depended upon to provide leadership to a squad that includes 10 highly regarded newcomers.

Leading the squad as a captain and senior is Lauren Finders who led the SLIAC last year in assists and was a second team all-conference player and the team's most valuable player.

The junior class features middle hitter Jessica Dothager, a second team all-conference player and team captain, as well as outside hitter Katelin Feyerabend who returns after earning SLIAC first team honors in 2008 and newcomer of the year in 2007.

Defending regular season and tournament champion Webster University has been picked as the pre-season favorite. The Gorloks went undefeated at 16-0 last season and posted a 23-6 overall record.

Spalding University was selected to finish second in the pre-season poll. The Golden Eagles received two first place votes. Their squad is eligible for the regular season conference championship and SLIAC awards, but due to their NCAA provisional membership, they may not qualify for the conference tournament.

Principia College rounded out the top four in the poll and also received one first place vote. Principia went 23-10 overall and 14-2 in conference play last year.
