Greenville Wins Second Consecutive Men's Soccer Tournament Championship

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville College defeated Webster University 2-0 to win their second consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Men's Soccer Tournament Championship. The Panthers are the first #3 seed to claim the tournament title, and it marks their third overall.

Both Greenville and Webster posted upset victories over higher seeded teams in the semifinal round to advance to the tournament championship. Greenville earns the automatic qualifying bid with the win over Webster and will now advance to the 2011 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.

Greenville's Steve Beam was named the 2011 SLIAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Joining him on the All-Tournament Team were teammates Matt Cowman, Sean McQuillan and David Cole. Webster's Brelon Buckner, Clint Carter and Josh Sellmeyer also earned All-Tournament Team honors. Westminster College (Mo.) placed Adam Ross and Matt Shoults on the All-Tournament Team, while Fontbonne University's Josh Schulz and Charlie Chafin received the honor as well.
