GU's Board of Trustees Welcomes Two New Members

Greenville University is pleased to announce the addition of two trustees to the UniversitysBoard of Trustees: Bishop Keith Cowart, one of three bishops serving in leadership with the Free Methodist Church-USA, and Rev. Dr. Kristen Marble, an educator, pastor, and writer.

GU's Board of Trustees Welcomes Two New MembersCowart provides leadership to Free Methodist Churches in the Eastern Seaboard and the South Central U.S. He also oversees the Free Methodist work in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He previously served as Free Methodist superintendent of the Southeast Region in the U.S.

Prior to his leadership roles with the Free Methodist church, Cowart served 27 years as lead pastor of Christ Community Church in Columbus, Georgia. Cowart planted the church in 1997. In 2018, it averaged 1,000 Sunday attendees, and its church staff numbered 20. Under Cowarts leadership, the church gained wide attention for its racial diversity, a key to its growth.

Cowart holds a doctorate inministryand a master of divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. He also holds a bachelor of arts with a major inbusinessfrom Georgia Southern University.

A Heart For Community Partnerships

Kristen Marble serves the West Morris Street Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis asGU's Board of Trustees Welcomes Two New Members senior pastor. She also chairs Free Methodist African Immigrant Ministries, works with FM churches in Bangladesh, andserves on several denominational and community boards. Her community leadership includes work with groups that address issues surrounding community development, homelessness, and pregnancy support.

A prolific writer, Marble has published many commentaries and articles, in addition to two books:The Scriptures of Jesus and the Early Church(Light & Life Publishing, 2018) andThe Second Scriptures: The Scriptures About Jesus and the Early Church(Light & Life Publishing, 2019). She teaches at several seminaries and universities, including Greenville University.

Marble holds a doctorate inministryfrom Northern Seminary, a master of divinity from George Fox Evangelical Seminary, and undergraduate degrees in German andchemistryfrom University of Idaho.
