Harling, Women's Tennis Ready for the Courts in 2012

GREENVILLE, Ill. - All-SLIAC performer and junior Jamie Harling looks to lead an optimistic Greenville College women's tennis team into a promising 2012 season.

The GC women's rackets are coming off a2011 campaign that saw their season end in the semifinals of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament as they fell to No. 1 seeded Principia College. Greenville earned the fourth seed in the four team tournament as they qualified with a SLIAC dual match record of 3-3 for the second consecutive year.

"Last year was a strong showing for us," stated head coach Pam Craig. "This season we have limited numbers, but we return several strong players and have added some new faces that will make 2012 very competitve."

Returning at the top of the rotation for the Lady Panthers in 2012 is ace Harling. Harling, who is the only All-SLIAC choice on the squad, will look to add to her back-to-back season's of honorable mention doubles and singles performances in the No. one slot.

Joining Harling on the returning front for the Panthers are seniors Katie Maurer, Kristin Minshaw, and Kim Minshaw. The new faces that will add depth to the squad include junior Kathrynn Kennedy, sophomore Jenna Reints, and freshmen Chelsie Evans and Kristen Lynch.

Greenville College women's tennis will commence their 2012 season on Tuesday, March 6 as they battle Missouri Baptist Universtiy in a team match on the campus of Principia College.
